Scale Your Video Business

Top 10 Most Popular episodes of the How to Scale a Video Business Podcast of 2019

This week we’re going to do something a little bit different. I’m actually gonna reveal to you our top 10 most downloaded podcasts of 2019

So I want to kick straight off and reveal to you what in fact you have been listening to.

What are the topics that have been resonating the most with you and help you to see what’s working for you guys as listeners.

Let’s see which topics are most popular. So we’ll kick straight off in reverse order.

At number 10 we’ve got How To Succeed with a Niche with Geoff Anderson EP#034

https://denlennie.com/blog/how-to-succeed-with-a-niche-with-geoff-anderson-ep-034

Geoff Anderson runs a video production here in business here in Sydney and I actually did two podcasts with us. His second podcast just slipped tight to number 11, which was Subscription video models #35

Both terrific episodes. You should definitely go and check them out. And so, you know, I’ve, I’ve been a big advocate of sticking to a niche and you know, really making sure you talk to one market at a time and Jeff is the absolute master of it. So you make sure you go and check out this episode.

At number 9. It’s yours truly in an interview that was done with me by Charley Valher called Den Unleashed Part 1: Why So Many Businesses Stagnate or Fail with Charley Valher EP#042

I share why so many video businesses fail to ever reach their true potential.  Many freelancers find themselves accidentally running a business and that’s where the pitfalls are many.  In this episode, you will discover how you can avoid them.

https://denlennie.com/blog/den-unleashed-part-1-why-so-many-businesses-stagnate-or-fail-with-charley-valher-ep-042

At number 8, we’ve got Mr Ben Amos who’s a video strategist talking about the new video paradigm. The Video Strategist: A New Video Paradigm with Ben Amos EP#038 Ben goes into some detail about the importance of video strategy as part of your video business and not simply just making the videos.

https://denlennie.com/blog/the-video-strategist-a-new-video-paradigm-with-ben-amos-ep-038

It’s a great episode there that I think is definitely worth a relisten if you are keen to investigate video strategy and how you can help clients not only make a video but actually help them to distribute that video as well.

At 7 we have got Matt Smolen, How To Scale From Freelancer To A Team Of 4 With Matt Smolen (Part 1) EP#050

A cracking episode to kick off our 50th episode. https://denlennie.com/blog/how-to-scale-from-freelancer-to-a-team-of-4-with-matt-smolen-part-1-ep-050

Matt runs balloon tree productions in Melbourne and they focus on lighthearted comedy and videos with a sense of fun. And Matt actually did a couple of podcasts with us. His second podcast is here  https://denlennie.com/blog/being-authentic-with-your-content-with-matt-smolen-part-2-ep-051 and that came in at number 13, but this episode made the top ten.

A great episode here in how to adapt your mindset when scaling your business from that freelancer mindset to taking that first member of the team on. And then, progressing and adding more team as you scale.

Because you can’t build a business alone. There’s only so much you can do on your own. And when you find yourself kind of doing things, again and again, it’s time to start looking for extra support.

At number 6, we have got Video Marketing and How to Measure ROI with Chris Schwager EP#040

Chris runs Ridge Films in Sydney, Australia with his business partner and is Australia’s most reviewed video production company on Google reviews. I think they’ve got 150 reviews or something crazy like that. Chris is a fabulous guy. I met him on LinkedIn and we’ve sparked a great friendship. He’s been on the podcast twice. We hope to get him back and this particular episode and we had a great conversation about video marketing and how he sells video marketing, not just video.

What’s interesting in the podcast about how you can take your video business and expand the offer. E.G. Other services outside of making the video. Chris has got some great clients on subscriptions who have video marketing services for him. Chris is very prolific on LinkedIn as well. So check out some of his content. He’s very, very active and shares a great deal of great information.

At number 5, we have 17 Lessons from The Accelerator Mastermind with Charley Valher EP#046

This was an episode we did where we actually broke down just one of our events that we held at the video business accelerator and actually extracted 17 lessons. And so if you’re thinking about, you know, ways in which you can scale your business and different methods and approaches, we basically give you the 17 lessons that we took away from the mastermind.https://denlennie.com/blog/17-lessons-from-the-accelerator-mastermind-with-charley-valher-ep-046

And you can just listen to them and start applying them and your own business. And of course, if you want some help, then please do reach out and we’ll have a chat and see if it’s a good fit.

What I do in my business is I’m a business coach/mentor. We run a group coaching scenario. And so we, we employ the principles of business mastermind, but with  hands on, one-to-one coaching in the weekly calls. So you get the benefit of attention in your business, but the, the support of the group. So it’s a really terrific group and I’m really proud of it. And we’ve got businesses all over the world. Boston, Chicago, New Jersey, Birmingham, Alabama, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, London, Manchester, we were all over the place and we’re growing all the time. There are only really 2 decision in business do you want to grow with the support of others who have already been there or do you want to continue to try and figure it out on your own.   https://videobusinessaccelerator.com/success-stories/

At number 4, we’ve got Den Unleashed Part 2: It’s Not Your Fault, Nobody Taught You How to Run a Business with Den Lennie EP#043

Charley asked me if I would be interviewed and really, he turned the tables on me and he grilled me to find out about my perspective on business and these episodes were really, really well received. So that’s that at number four. https://denlennie.com/blog/den-unleashed-part-2-it-s-not-your-fault-nobody-taught-you-how-to-run-a-business-with-charley-valher-ep-043

And then up at number 3, Why I Start Work at 2AM Every Day with Simeon Quarrie (Part 1) EP#044

Simeon is a very enigmatic filmmaker, very prolific in the UK at works incredibly hard. And when we recorded this podcast, it was 2:00 AM and Simeon has a view that, you know, you have to do what you have to do to get stuff done. For filmmakers, it’s really essential to always be on top of your game. Staying focused is one of the key factors in making sure you are ahead in the industry. And this might sound a bit odd for you but our guest today has been practicing this habit of waking up at 2am every day. And it certainly helped a lot in terms of focus.

Simeon Quarrie, is the owner and CEO of VIVIDA. He will be giving us insights on how he adapted to this lifestyle and what it has done for his business. We will be discussing how he transitioned from weddings to corporate work and now VR.

He’s an incredibly interesting guy. He did another episode with us which was, you know, why being too creative could scare off clients. https://denlennie.com/blog/why-i-start-work-at-2am-every-day-with-simeon-quarrie-part-1-ep-044

Simeon also shared a 2nd episode with us on  why Being Too Creative Could Scare Clients Off with Simeon Quarrie (Part 2) EP#045

Both those episodes, 44 and 45 were really, really fabulous. Make sure you listen back to both of those.

Make sure and actually go to the website at https://denlennie.com/blog don’t forget there’s also a free book, which is The filmmaker’s guide to budgets and quotes that increase profit margin on productions by 20 to 30% instantly, which I’m giving away on the website. So make sure you go and grab that. There’s no catch. You just need to put your email address in there so we can send it to you. And yeah, that’s that.

At number 2. Good friend and colleague Ryan spanger.

Ryan did two episodes with us Video Production Business Manifesto With Ryan Spanger (Part 1) EP#047

Part one made it number 2. In fact, his part two also was very close to the top 10 and it’s part two was equally interesting. So he shares 20 lessons he’s learned over the last 20 years of running a video business.

And then at number 1, Using LinkedIn For Lead Generation With Emily Wallace EP#049

I’m thrilled that this person is at number one because not only is she lovely and very generous but is  unstoppable. Emily came and spoke at one of our events and then we did a podcast afterwards. Now what’s interesting about Emily is Emily is actually a buyer’s agent, the property market. So some people were like, well why?

Why are you getting her in to talk about LinkedIn? When were talking about video production businesses?

It’s because there’s always something to learn, especially from other markets. And so what I did was I got Emily on and she did an incredible presentation for our members and on how to connect on LinkedIn. And came on the podcast and she was kind enough to share her insights as to what’s working for her.  https://denlennie.com/blog/using-linkedin-for-lead-generation-with-emily-wallace-ep-049

What’s always interesting in any kind of business environment is you should look at other businesses and ask the question, how can I apply that in my business?

And that’s what we did with this episode. So Emily was the number one podcast of last year, episode 49. I’m excited that I was able to put this compilation together. And did you have any particular favorites that weren’t mentioned?

Please let me know. And as always, I love to connect with you on LinkedIn if you haven’t yet connected with me.

I like to know what we can do more of. What are the topics that you like? And it’ll be interesting when we do this next year, what topics are.
